The Architizer Awards jury is comprised of over 250 distinguished leaders and luminaries from fields which shape the world we live in.The Essential Homes Research Project, developed by the Norman Foster Foundation in partnership with Holcim is a first proposal to explore durable, comfortable and dignified homes. It suggests a fast build alternative to tents or similar short-lived shelters, which offer scant protection from the elements and uncomfortable living conditions.
2023 Architectural Innovation of the year presented by the Global Architecture Design Awards
The Essential Homes Research Project, developed by the Norman Foster Foundation in partnership with Holcim and exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2023, has been awarded the Architectural Innovation of the year prize in the Global Architecture Design Awards 2023. It has also been recognised as the runner-up in the Sustainable Project of the year category. The Essential Homes project is designed by the Norman Foster Foundation, with Holcim’s sustainable building solutions inside, to provide safety, comfort and wellbeing for low-income or displaced communities.
