Learning from Foster’s Archive – Architecture Week
October 6, 2022
On the occasion of Architecture Week 2022, the Norman Foster Foundation is hosting an exhibition of works by ETSAM (Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura) students. The works presented at the Norman Foster Foundation Pavilion belong to students of the School of Architecture of Madrid, immersed in the process of learning, understanding and analyzing the architecture that surrounds us. This educational project is the result of the educational experiment that arises from the collaboration between the Department of Architectural Composition of the UPM and the Norman Foster Foundation.
The works on display analyze the language of the architect. The results show a variety of supports (board games, cartographies, comics, etc), in which students share a heterogeneous vision of architecture and ways of sharing the knowledge acquired throughout the course, where students were invited to become actors for change, aware of the decisive role that future architects (or architects of the future) will have in the context of climate emergency and the goals of the UN Agenda 2030. The works surprised Foster himself, and were recently selected to be presented as an academic innovation project at the Towards A New European Bauhaus Congress organized by the European Association of Architectural Education.
