Healthy Cities Public Debates
This publication brings together the three Healthy Cities Public Debates organised by the Norman Foster Foundation in collaboration with its Health Patron, Sanitas, between 2023 and 2025.
The latest publication from the Norman Foster Foundation presents the three Healthy Cities Public Debates in book form, bringing together a series of critical conversations around one of the defining challenges of the twenty-first century: how to ensure that societies evolve sustainably while promoting healthy urban environments.
The volume features contributions from fourteen participants, alongside a curated selection of images. Drawing on expertise from architecture, urbanism, politics, healthcare, history and environmental research, the debates combine keynote presentations and round-table discussions, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue.
Structured into three chapters reflecting the debates held annually from 2023 to 2025, the publication includes a foreword by Norman Foster and an introductory chapter by Joseph G. Allen, Director of the Healthy Buildings Program at the T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University.
Healthy Cities Public Debates serves as a practical handbook for improving cities today and in the future, contributing to the Norman Foster Foundation’s ongoing research into urban health and the built environment.
