Revisiting the Autonomous House: A collaborative project between Buckminster Fuller and Norman Foster
March 22, 2021
On March 25, architect Diego López Urruchi will give an online seminar at the conference entitled ‘Design Beyond Technology, Digital Realities’, organized by the Industrial Design Association. The conference will take place between March 25 and 26 and it will be structured around four concepts: design, technology, future, and sustainability. The aim of these seminars is to make the audience reflect on their future role within their discipline in relation to technology.
Diego López’s seminar, ‘Revisiting the Autonomous House: A collaborative project between Buckminster Fuller and Norman Foster’, will deal with the origins of the Autonomous House project, designed by Buckminster Fuller and Norman Foster between 1982 and 1983. Original sketches will be shown, accompanied by photographs of that time and working models. Afterward, Diego López will address a description of the work done at the Norman Foster Foundation to take up the Autonomous House project and update it to present needs. The design process will be shown including sketches, 3D models of the project with renderings, and working models.
With more than fifteen years of experience, Diego López is one of the architects that make up the Architecture, Design, and Technology Unit of the Norman Foster Foundation. You can attend his lecture online and for free by registering on the website of the Industrial Design Association.
